Brand new caravan totalled in M1 rollover

A BRAND new $86,000 caravan was totalled on the M1 this morning about 30 minutes after being collected by its proud owners.

About 10.45am the couple who had bought the van, a New Age Caravans The Jewel 21 Series, was travelling north on the M1 near the Smith Street on-ramp when the van jackknifed.

The Sunswift IV solar racer is now the fastest in the world
 
AN Australian car is officially the world's fastest solar-powered vehicle, zooming almost 10km/h above the previous record.

The solar racer Sunswift IV - known as IVy - was designed and built at the University of New South Wales.

"We've beaten the record by 10kms (per hour) - it reached a speed of 88kms - and we think we can get it over 90kms." a UNSW spokesman said.

Hero nurse Bob Fenwick saved colleague's life from deadly attack

SLAIN psychiatric nurse Bob Fenwick has been hailed a hero after he stepped in to save a colleague in a stabbing attack that cost him his life.

Nurse Emily Pritchard's father Bob said last night that he believed Mr Fenwick saved his daughter's life.

Japanese man accused of keeping dead dad in wardrobe for five years

POLICE in Japan were questioning a man for abandoning a corpse after his father's mummified remains were found in a wardrobe in the apartment they shared, local media reported yesterday.

CATHOLIC clergy have been banned from giving children piggyback rides under child protection policies introduced by an outer Melbourne parish.

The new policies, aimed at preventing abuse, include bans on inappropriate embracing, or contacting children through Facebook or SMS.
